How to schedule an event in a group chat on WhatsApp

In this digital age, communication has become easier with the help of messaging applications like WhatsApp. Meta’s WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messaging applications available on Android and iOS. The company recently added a new feature in the app called Event, making it convenient to plan and coordinate gatherings with friends, family, or colleagues. This guide will walk you through the simple steps to schedule an event on WhatsApp effortlessly.

Open WhatsApp after updating

To begin scheduling an event on WhatsApp, open the WhatsApp application on your smartphone. Ensure that you have the latest version installed to access all the features seamlessly, including the Event feature. To do that, head to Google Play Store on Android or App Store on iOS, search for the app, and update it. However, do note that the feature may or may not be available to everyone even after the update. But you can only know if your WhatsApp has the feature by checking it by following the below steps.

Step 1: Start by opening the group chat where you want to create an event.

Step 2: Tap on the Attachments button. On iOS, the Attachment button is the “+” button.

Step 3: You should see the Event option next to Polls. It’s last in the list of 8 attachments. Tap on it.

Step 4: Now, you will be able to create an event. Just Enter the name and description, the latter is optional. Followed by adding the date and time next to Starts. Add the location or select on WhatsApp call link if you are going to do the event online.

Step 5: Lastly, tap on Send, and the Event should be sent in the group chat.

Now, the group members can respond to the event, letting others know if they are going to attend the event or not. This makes it convenient for a group of friends to decide whether to meet at a cafe or for work colleagues to get together for a meeting.

It is worth noting that on the event date, WhatsApp will remind users that there’s an event today. Interestingly, WhatsApp will also send an alert even if your phone’s mobile data is off or it’s not connected to the Internet using WiFi.
