I got this to use an Astropad Luna display extender with a Hackintosh. It connects the Luna dongle (mini display port) to the full size Display Port on a Radeon Vega 64 PCI card. Astropad does not recommend connecting a Luna dongle to any adapters, so I took the $8 risk to see what would happen. It successfully recognized the dongle, updated the Luna firmware, and works flawlessly.

Before I found this product, I never knew shorter display port cables existed. I have my mini pc mounted on the back of my ultrawide monitor, and in my never-ending quest for aesthetically pleasing cable management, using a 3- or 6-foot DP cable just seemed like a terrible solution as I’d have to wrap almost 2 to 5-feet of unused cable slack on my monitor arm.
In came this cute little 1-foot DP cable. It was actually the perfect length between both ports, and now the back of my monitor looks like it was professionally cable-managed.
