Lenovo has introduced its handheld gaming console, Legion Go in India as it looks to wrest Asus ROG Ally users. As the second officially launched handheld console in India, Lenovo Legion Go must address the common pain points that ROG Ally users have been pointing out. The half-baked Windows optimisation tops that list. Lenovo says Legion Go will “provide gamers in India with a device that promises an unparalleled gaming experience on the go,” thanks to fully optimised Windows 11.
Lenovo Legion Go features, specifications
Legion Go uses the same hardware as high-end gaming consoles such as Xbox Series X. The AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, which also powers the ROG Ally, is among the fastest for playing AAA titles. It uses AMD RDNA Graphics with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, clocked at 7500MHz, and 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage. You can also add a microSD card of up to 2TB to expand the storage. Lenovo claims the Legion Go has a 79-blade liquid crystal polymer fan, which operates at less than 25dB in Quiet Mode, but speeds up to utilise 25W TGP for maximum performance in Custom Mode. To ensure the temperature remains optimal, the Legion Coldfront Technology helps prevent thermal throttling on the console.
You get an 8-inch QHD+ IPS screen with a peak brightness of 500 nits, a variable refresh rate between 60Hz and 144Hz, and a 97 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut. You can adjust the resolution on the screen from 1600p to 800p, depending on the game’s native resolution. It uses a 49.2Wh battery, which supports Super Rapid Charge for 70 percent fill in about 30 minutes. While plugged in, the Legion Go utilises power bypass mode to boost performance by powering the device directly from the main source. It helps extend the battery life and reduces heat generation.
Lenovo’s Legion Go sports hall effect joysticks so that drift is minimal while using. There is a sizable D-pad, an integrated trackpad, an angled mouse wheel, and 10 mappable shoulder buttons, triggers, and grip buttons. All these buttons can be reprogrammed to fire up custom apps or enable custom settings. The ‘O’ power button features customisable RGB lighting and can double as a controller pairing notification system. The TrueStrike controllers help enable FPS mode for quick sessions and are detachable. An optical eye at the bottom of the controller increases aiming and control for better FPS gameplay.

The Legion Go costs Rs 89,990 and will go on sale from July 1 on Flipkart, Lenovo’s website, and Lenovo exclusive stores. You get three months of free Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription with the device, as well as one year of accidental damage protection. A Legion Go screen protector is bundled with the unit free of cost.
