Good: Plays everything I have with great performance.

Good: Great specs. Does everything I need it to do and will ever do.

Good: The screen quality is great.

Meh: Not a fan of all the bloatware that comes with this rig.

Meh: Had a couple issues at first where the function keys just stopped working. Driver and BIOS updates seemed to fix that.

Meh: Battery life is abysmal but Optimus helps with that. Also wasn’t expecting this thing to last 8 hours given its primary function and hardware.

Meh: I can’t figure out how to properly wake up the laptop from sleep mode. Sometimes clicking the mouse works, sometimes pressing a key does the trick, and other times I have to press the power button to awaken it.

Unsure: I hear frequent scratchy sounds from the board that almost sound like an old school hard drive on its way to total failure. Google suggests this might be coil whine, but I’m not really sure.

The specs are great, it’s more than most gamers will ever need! Fast, responsive, the graphics & QHD screen resolution are beautiful. Built in speaker sound is just ok, you can make adjustments to improve quality or simply connect to a bluetooth speaker to level up your audio expedience. The fans do a good job keeping it cool but it does get very warm when running high performance, not bad though. Personally I spent way too much time researching for the best of the best gaming laptops in this price category and I can confidently say that I’m really happy with my purchase & selection! Honestly i’d give this ROG Strix an 8 out of 10!

Just had it only for a few days, and I’ve been very impressed with it. Excellent speed, a significant amount of ram, and beautiful aesthetics and features. If you want a high end laptop, this is the one to use!

Edit: Had for a few months now, I also would recommend a cooling pad, (any cooler works but if you want the best cooling, I suggest a high end cooler to help with this laptop’s cooling). It’ll helps boost fps with a good cooler so I suggest you do that.

This thing is powerful. Definitely gets hot, so I’d recommend a cooling pad. Performs better than my desktop (3070ti, ryzen 7 3700x). Haven’t seen any info on whether or not it has an additional m.2 slot, so I’d like to know that before cracking it open (did so on my 2022 version). Tampering with Armorycrate and power saving settings allows me to get a good 6+ hours of battery life, totally serviceable for school use though I keep the power cord and a battery bank close at hand anyway. Somewhat annoyed by the lack of USB A connectors, there’s only 2. There are 2 USB C connectors which is nice, but I don’t have anything to leverage those at the moment. I preferred having the ports on the back rather than the sides as they now interfere with the workspace, but understand the sacrifice for cooling. Haven’t run into any issues as of yet, a month after purchase. Very satisfied.

Runs every game I’ve played great. Not a fps beast with high screen quality so if you want high fps lower the resolution. I get around 90-100 fps with high resolution on sons of the forest

I almost never write reviews becuase normally the products work as described. This laptop was an aboslute nightmare, I spent probably 25 hours over 3 days trying to figure out how to enable HDR for the Nebula OLED screen and RTX 4070 I spent a lot of money for.

You CANNOT enable HDR in Windows 11 – the slider is greyed out. No matter what changes you make in NVidia Control panel, the ASUS software, the MUX switch or anything else, you cannot enable HDR or Dolby Vision. The only possible way is to use a specific “app” in the MS Store, and even then it does not truly work. Supposedly in some games you can select HDR but if Windows itself is stuck in 8-Bit sRBG mode, the game does not override it. I tried using the expanded color palettes (DCI-P) and two other wide gamut settings in the ASUS program, but none would allow you to turn on HDR.

It feels like this entire laptop is just a scam, or maybe ASUS plans to update it in the future, but sorry I’m not paying $2000 for a laptop that *might* someday do what it claims to do now. I tired a dozen different videos from HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ or Dolby Vision and not a single one sent the HDR palette from the laptop to my LG CX OLED TV, which will tell you when it recognized and switches to a larger gamut setting. There’s a worthless Dolby Vision application pre-installed and of course it will not do anything helpful.

IIRC the only way to get DV to work is if you’re streaming video from a MS Store approved app (Netflix). Any locally stored videos are stuck running SDR.

I’ve been building my computers since the mid 90’s so I know what I’m doing – which was returning this within 3 days (after spending close to 20 hours researching and reading forums). It simply does not make sense to sell an HDR/DoVi capable screen and video card, but then completely disable the HDR setting in W11. I really

Very good build quality. Great screen 240hz, processor and speedy DDR5 5600 ram. Mid range Rtx 4060 gets the job done and can handle most games well. Spare nvme slot. Can get noisy when it’s warms up, but that’s to be expected with a gaming laptop. Bios is very limited. Overall very solid choice.

Running everything at maximum. Thank you asus and Amazon for the fast delivery.
