Great phone. Fits my small hands but the battery life is poor.

  2. Fabien Lemoine

Great design, right size, long battery life. This is really good value for money and my teenage son loves it.

  3. D. Holmer

I love Pixel phones, and this is my 4th, but I hate hate hate this one! Battery life is half that of the pixel 7 — seriously you think we’re going to be okay with that? But the real issue is the usability. Touchscreen often requires multiple taps before it responds (frustrating!!) and I think the very slightly smaller size, compared to pixel 7, may also be an issue because I keep missing the keys. Why would I want a phone that is going to fight me like this?

Another issue: Scratchy audio. Dude, seriously?

Lastly I had trouble connecting Android auto, although truth be told I didn’t try all that hard to fix the problem as I was done with the phone by then.

Hey Pixel team — Stop sacrificing quality in order to get your phone to market with features that no one cares 1/10th about compared to core usability. One more chance: I’ll try the pixel 9, but if you mess that up I am leaving you forever.

Kid been wanting to replace his Samsung for a while, and I had been planning to get a new phone as his graduation gift. We waited until the 8a was released.
It felt good in the hand. Not too large or small. It’s fast, has great cameras, nice screen, and good battery. So far he been loving it.
He also didn’t experienced any reception issues like his Samsung phone.

  5. Mario DeMarco

Nice, I like the product and working good

  6. bigbaldguy

Bought this to replace an older Pixel. I don’t know what the pixel 8 has that this pixel 8a doesn’t because this is a great phone. So far I’m very happy with it. Set up was easy. Display is great. Battery is excellent. Finger print sensor is excellent. Screen is a little sensitive, this can probably be adjusted. I’m very happy with this phone

  8. Kevin F.

Moved to this from Samsung A53.
Love “Vanilla” android os with no bloat.
    Excellent camera
    Fast
    Reliable
Transferring my pics and vids using the smart transfer didn’t fully work so had to manually copy and paste some using my pc.

  9. NeonCat117

    I got the blue one.

The camera is soooo good. The screen quality and sound rock to.

All in all I love it! thanks a ton

I am very happy with this purchase, and the phone works quite well. The price is right and there was only a slight learning curve when coming from a Samsung phone. I know google has a spotted history when it comes to sale prices on their other models, so maybe the pricing will not be as strong a driver as the Pixel 7 pros and Pixel 8s go on sale, but I am very happy with this budget model.

The battery life last multiple days between charges for me, or for the entire day with heavy youtube usage. It can get slightly warm at times, but no warmer than my S9+ under heavy usage, so I am not concerned. Charge times are reasonable, but I am coming from an older phone, so maybe I am just easily impressed.

The finger print scanner works great for me, and when used in conjunction with the face recognition, is pretty seamless.

Overall, I am very happy with this phone, and will consider the Pixel phone family moving forward.

If you don’t need the latest and greatest fancy features, then the Pixel 8a is a very good phone for a reasonable price. its performance is good, certainly more than adequate for an average user, and I would say it compares well with phones costing a few hundred dollars more. In addition, Google has promised 7 years of software updates, which means essentially every owner should receive updates for as long as they use the phone.

  12. NeonCat117

I know some will say get the Pixel 8 but really it is personal preference. I could not care less about all the phone reviewers talking about wider bezels. This phone is well built and fits my needs. There are way worse phones out there.

I left the Moto X world for the Pixel universe. The transition was simple with clear guides timely showing on each phone. Only a couple apps didn’t transfer, so that was an easy fix.

The Pixel 8a is slightly larger than the Moto X4 and for me, that’s a plus. I liked Moto gestures but the Pixel offers its own gestures and/or shortcuts.

Love all the options to customize its looks and features like identifying songs playing nearby. Great screen and good battery life too.
