I bought this Gopro for a ski trip to AK. I was replacing my older Gopro session and wanted high quality camera, and image stabilization. The 10 Black gave me both of those no problem. It took great quality footage and nice and smooth. Battery lasted pretty decent as well.
I was not a fan of the operation of the camera though. To easy to screw up filming with it. I had it not record when set to auto on, had it record in hyper speed, or record as a pic every second. All of this was without changing any settings. I would have to take my helmet off before every run to make sure it was recording in the correct mode.

I also used my old session. There is 1 button. On/off. Can’t mess it up, weighs much less, and much smaller. I so want gopro to make a higher end session. Better camera, and image stabilization and I’d rebuy 1 in a instant.

Whithout proper airflow, the camera overheat very quickly especially at higher framerates. Also, first time real day to day use, after 2+ hours of recording, I lost all my files. Sudendly the camera can’t read the SD card, I am still not able to recover the corrupted files even though I did make sure to use recommended SD card by GoPro.

The media could not be loaded.

The battery only last about 22-23 mins. I updated the software on November 14. The update said that it would fix something’s including the battery issue with it not lasting long. After the update I got 26 mins on a trail run. Still not long. I have a here 7 and get an hour out of the battery. But besides that it’s a great camera. Check out the video my son did for this company using the hero 10.

Way better then what I thought it would be. Can do so much! Must buy if you’re active or a photographer. Great to get all those B-rolls.

The batteries on this camera are not good enough and the new Enduro batteries that are supposed to fix the problem are nowhere to be found in Canada.
GoPro doesn’t even seem to care about this issue.
Better wait and buy the next generation that will hopefully come with better batteries.

  6. Carl

Battery life is still perfectly mediocre. Slightly annoying it achieves this with different batteries over my HERO5, but it brings better battery saver modes and a host of new features. The stabilization is quite good, making ocean footage actually usable. With the HERO5 I just stopped taking it on underwater adventures. The quality was bad and aged poorly. The stability was terrible. HERO10 makes all that better. It feels a bit better built and the OS is actually snappy. Overall a good upgrade.

This is a really good camera but keep in mind to purchase more batteries. The charge doesn’t last long especially when you turn off GPS and other little features on the camera. But besides that it’s a great little camera

The quality of the video is great. You cannot enter the time and date stamp on the video.

The battery will continue to run when it is turned off. The only way to preserve battery when not using it is to remove the battery, otherwise you will shot, put it away for a couple of hours and when you tr to turn it back on the battery is dead.

The 10Black was mostly the camera I was looking for, though a couple minor complaints have me giving it a less than perfect score.

1/ Confusing product IDs. Did you know a 10Black, 10Silver, and 10White all have different capabilities? Can you guess which is best? I can’t.

2/ Can’t really run it at 4K for very long. Not because of storage requirements, but because it will overheat. That’s okay, 1080 is enough for my needs, but feels bait and switchy to have a “enter meltdown” setting labelled as “4K Ultra HD”

I love how responsive and how easy it is to change from linear, to wide and etc, also love how easy it is to set up and just keep it going… the mic pick up everything and I love that especially for a uilt in mic it’s not bad at all. The battery probably won’t last long because just shooting for couple minutes and a few pics the camera batter lost 10% in just couple of minutes and you can definitely feel it getting pretty hot so ima buy a selfie stick so I don’t need to keep holding it with my hands. But so far love it and I’m enjoying it… will update if anything changes or if I return it

I originally bought this to video tape a wedding but the media mod I ordered to work with the camera was three days late so it wasn’t of use to me for that. Thought about sending it back but decided to give it to my 11 year old daughter for her birthday yesterday. The package was not factory sealed and the camera look as though someone had already used it. It kept shutting off on its own and would not operate properly. Sent it back for a refund and purchased her another one.
Will update again when we get the new one to let you all know how it works for us. Hoping it works as it should. Never had a GoPro before and know nothing about them so my daughter and I are excited to try it out on one of our outings.

UPDATE: I purchased a new one the day I sent the faulty one back as we didn’t want to wait for the return process. The new one is amazing. I’m so surprised at what a tiny camera like this is capable of. Pictures and videos have vibrant clear colours and the stabilization is incredible. So happy we decided to get one. The best part is that it’s fully waterproof and we can take it on our kayaking and boat adventures without having to worry about getting it wet. Great little camera.

Sometimes the machine consumes power both when it is off and it is charging, and then it gets very hot. Hopefully a firmware update will fix this.
