10 reviews for Motorola Defy (2021) Dual-SIM 64GB ROM + 4GB RAM (GSM Only | No CDMA) Factory Unlocked 4G/LTE Smartphone (Black) – International Version

  1. Mrs F.

Great phone apart from ability to talk to people on it as a phone. Not sure why but half way through a phone call the person on the other end can not hear me. Gone through manuals etc to see if it is set up wrong. Would be grateful of any tips. Had to go back to old phone as this one is no good for its primary function.

  2. Mario Supria

The only reason I got this phone because of the reviews and claims how tough this phone is. My son dropped it from about 2 feet high and it shattered the screen. I had it less than 1 month. Also the warrent don’t cover broken screens. Because of the built quality which is very solid, it’s very difficult to open and replace the screen. Went to Motorola website to send it in for repair that page had a error message. All sign of repair leads to dead ends. Not worth it if it’s breaks over average drops and it’s difficult to fix. I would buy a regular phone add screen protector and heavy duty case and is easier to repair.

Apesar de la batería que tiene el dispositivo es bastante liviano. El sistema es bastante fluido, lo recomiendo.

There is nothing I dislike about this smartphone, amazing battery, only 720 screen, but what a nice screen , not a crappy panel like some of the cheap moto phones, everything just works, wish I had brought this when it first came out , and the build is like a tank, but isn’t to heavy, we’ll done moto,

Phone itself is ok, but annoyingly it loses ability for WiFi calling continuously and requires a power off and in to re-establish. Disappointing as I don’t get a network signal in my house so rely on this feature. Would like kecto return the phone because if this.

  6. Hiro

Alright, so I gave it a bad review at first but all my problems were solved when I switched mobile service providers. It’s actually a decent phone now, kinda slow but that’s alright, it’s rugged and has a good battery life.

  7. Chris Mc Carthy

As expected,I was very pleased with my Defy, this will be my 4th Moto phone, does exactly as expected, good solid feel in the hand, usual Android 10 system, upgrade to A11 due but no date specified, would be nice if upgraded to 5g & wireless charging, but an excellent choice of phone if working an outdoor/active job,I am very happy with my Defy,& would recommend it unreservedly.*Update* Have recently been upgraded to Android 11,all good, working very well.

  8. Bizzzy

Brilliant screen quality and really easy to use. I’m still discovering all the features! Excellent camera too.

  9. Kesterbird

Takes truly terrible photos (I could probably count the individual pixels, they’re that big and few) and freezes on even the most basic apps. Truly, without exaggeration: this thing appears to be running like a late 90s fliphone, and while I know we give up some modern era conveniences for a “rugged” phone, it is both true that a 90s era flipphone would be cheaper and more rugged than this thing, and also that my previous phone is a “rugged” phone from 2014 and it both runs faster and takes better photos. So much for upgrading, I guess I’ll just keep using the one from 2014; I’m returning this one.

I was looking for a rugged phone (IP68) from a reliable manufacturer. Be aware that this is a GSM phone that is apparently 50% compatible with T-Mobile’s LTE network. No 5G service at all. My primary use for this phone is as a motorcycle navigation device. Apparently 2G/3G connectivity is enough to support Google Maps and Waze. Once I extend beyond T-Mobile’s network coverage, I use Locus Pro in combination with saved maps (Open Andro Maps). Once I’ve taken this phone on a couple of back country rides, I will know more about it’s ruggedness. I will have more to report.

I am down grading my review of this phone to 3 stars. I understood that its 4G connectivity was limited on T-Mobile’s network, but I had hopes that navigation apps – Waze, Google maps and Locus Pro (street navigation – on network) would perform at least acceptably on the Edge network. Not the case. In its place I have purchased a Pixel 6a (IP67) with all of T-Mobile’s LTE bands and only missing the N258 5G band. Fingers crossed that the Pixel will have greater navigational functionality.
