Surprised to have screen issues when I thought Samsung was the best screens in the world. Laptop was nice thin, lightweight and seemed pretty fast. about 1 week in, got a line of dead pixels on the screen so I returned it and went back to my macbook pro.

UPDATE AFTER 3 WEEKS: screen DID crack with no fall or knock. Or maybe it arrived that way. can only see in certain light.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Con? feels like it will not handle a fall or a knock really well TBD. When I grab it with one hand I feel like I may crack it. But that’s neither here nor there. Only owned a couple days.
I am blown away by this machine. For years I’ve been buying asus zenbooks. No contest. this thing is a sexy beast. I adore everything about it. Sorry no time to go into spec details; I just love every inch and pixel of it: easy to pack charging cord, crazy long battery life, price, screen size, video camera quality, keyboard, touchpad – never had a better collection of everything. Total new fan here – 4 days in.

ADORE this machine! I’ve had primarily HP laptops for ages, and really wanted something different. I watched a ton of YouTube reviews and same with online reviews and top 10 lists. I had a checklist, a budget, and happened to get an excellent deal — it checked all my specs. At the end of the process, it all just came together. I run this machine hard, the 32 megs of RAM certainly helps with my ridiculous multitasking. This baby powers through! Some other review said they could “hear the fan” — well that only happens when you’re really pressing the machine, and these fans are QUIET — especially compared to gaming laptops that sound like helicopters. Most of my rather tiny quibbles are to do with Windows, not with the machine itself. Absolute 9.5 out of 10, zero regrets. I’m a graphic designer and event DJ, absolutely serves my needs. 💋 P.S. the purity of the blacks with this OLED display ROCK. 🖤

Design and layout are nice, build looks and feels solid. Touch pad is a bit large for my taste but is functional. Screen is bright with vivid colors, processor seems plenty fast for my needs. Unfortunately, after a month of very light intermittent use the wi-fi adapter has failed. For some reason, Windows stopped the wi-fi adapter from working because it reported an error. With no internet connectivity I can’t find any specifics on the error; and I am unable to restart the adapter, so for now the laptop is a big flat paperweight. Hoping to find a solution, but extremely disappointing and frustrating considering the cost of this laptop.

The laptop arrived very well packaged that is very similar to how Apple products are packaged. I suspect Samsung is imitating Apple in this regard. The laptop is very slim and unlike my other laptops I have purchased, the laptop is clad in aluminum. Likewise the keys are aluminum and lends to a high quality feel. The screen is glass and susceptible to smudges so I try not to touch it. This laptop is brisk opening apps/programs quickly even with multiple browsers open. My Quickbooks use to take several seconds to open and processing payrolls was slow but now, Quickbooks opens quickly and payroll processing is quick. I am not sure about battery life but I do spend a long time using this laptop without having to plug in the power. The laptop does warn you when it is low on power and to unplug it when fully charged to preserve the battery.

TL;DR DON’T BUY SAMSUNG!
Less than three months into owning this laptop the screen started going out. Manufacturer defects happen, but the process of attempting to get in-warranty support from Samsung has me wanting to throw this laptop in the trash and buy a different brand.
I tried their web chat, and they kept shuffling me from person to person and losing my chat history. I’m trying right now to chat via both text message and Facebook Messenger, just hoping I can get someone who will help me get this repaired.
This is a customer service nightmare.
FOLLOW-UP:
I shipped the laptop to a Samsung repair facility in New Jersey. They attempted repair and did not fix the issue. Now I’m back to having to argue with Samsung to try to get them to do the right thing.
I will say again: DO NOT BUY A LAPTOP FROM SAMSUNG. This is the worst customer service experience I’ve had in years. Samsung simply does not care about their customers, or about their warranty obligations.
MORE FOLLOW UP:
Upon receiving the laptop back from service FOR THE SECOND TIME, I determined that the Windows license that is supposed to be included with the laptop cannot be activated, and I’m being told that I need to return the laptop for a third time. Every time I return the laptop to Samsung it costs $40 in packaging that is not returned, and this process has claimed now dozens of hours of my life.
Samsung’s support apparatus is an absurd parody that is abusive of consumers. I’ve spent hours upon hours with Samsung support only to have chat sessions and phone calls dropped, and when I get reconnected, I’m told that the representative has no notes on previous conversations and so I get to go through the entire process again. This happens literally every single time I call or message Samsung for support.
It is clear that Samsung is not dedicated to honoring their warranty obligations, but rather to maintaining a sham of customer support that is only as expensive as necessary for them to claim they’re meeting their obligations to consumers. At the rate Samsung is dishonoring their warranty claims in slow motion I will be outside my manufacturer’s warranty before Samsung has resolved my issues. I want either a refund of my original purchase, and Samsung can pay the costs of me shipping this defective equipment to wherever they’d like it shipped, or a new-in-box replacement shipped to me, and when I’ve verified that the equipment is functioning as expected I will ship the defective laptop to Samsung at their expense.

I purchased this particular laptop because it came with 32 GB of RAM instead of the 16 GB that most of the other models come with. Also, all of my other devices – phone, TV’s and tablet are also Samsung so compatibility is seamless. I thought the price was great. I really use this mostly as a desktop and I don’t really use the touchscreen on my laptop like I do on my phone or tablet. It fits my needs perfectly but if you’re a gamer, it may not fit yours since it uses integrated graphics.
