Zee News’ Zeenia paves the way for new age poll predictions

Zee News has created history! Its AI-based technology Zeenia has achieved what human poll predictors could only think of. In the tightly contested Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Zeenia predicted that the NDA government would win in between 305-315 seats. The winning team of NDA, as per the current trends, is leading on 293 seats, which is the closest for any major predictions.

While most of the professional exit poll agencies gave the NDA close to 350 seats, Zeenia stuck its ground and emerged accurate.

This accuracy has been achieved with a huge sample size of nearly 10 crore (100 million) people, a very big and reliable size by any standards. In this unique Zee exit poll, Artificial Intelligence was used and opinions of 10 crore people were taken. The media group used cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology and delivered the AI Exit Poll data to viewers.

While this may seem surprising, experts in the field believe that if given enough data, AI models can give us a good view of the on-ground sentiments. “AI can give a better stochastic model on predicting voter sentiment in a constituency and bottom-up overall national Outlook as well. If done well, data science models can give us a good view of on-ground sentiment by running Natural Language Processing models across social media, communities, and other digital channels. This can be translated into a good proxy for seat calculation with a reasonable confidence interval,” Kartik Sharma, co-founder of DcodeAI, said in a statement to Techlusive.

“It’s not surprising that AI predictions are getting more accurate and even surpassing traditional methods recently,” Himanshu Goel, co-founder and COO of FUTR Studios told Techlusive.

“AI Models rely on huge data sets and we live in one of the most data rich countries in the world. I expect the predictions to get even better with time,” he added.

Zeenia, an initiative by Zee Media, is an effort toward technological advancement and the future requirements of the content world.
