This is my first drone. Before getting this, I knew nothing about them. I got this drone with the very practical goal in mind of inspecting the gutters on the roof of my house: are they blocked? Where are they blocked? Why is that bit leaking? Etc.
One of the first things that is stated in the User Manual is “This product is not a toy”. However, the online description states it is “Perfect for Adults & Kids” and “Fun Gameplay and Stunts”, so it is a toy, however, it is so much more as well. I got this drone to inspect my guttering without me having to climb ladders or call somebody in to do it for me and accept what they told me and whatever they would charge me. This mission was accomplished (see pictures), but in the process, which I enjoyed, I learnt so much more. I also have a Video of my roof which shows more detail, unfortunately the file size is too large to post.
This drone is very small: 40grams including the battery and it fits comfortably in the palm of my hand. When the rotors are whizzing round, I can put my finger in the way of any rotor, and it will stop without hurting my finger. So, this drone is not capable of doing much damage.
The text in the user guide is very small, so you will need very good eyesight or a good pair of glasses to read it or like me a pair of glasses and a magnifying glass. However, there are also plenty of YouTube videos on this drone that show you what to do and how to do it on this drone. The controller has all the controls to make the drone go up or down, turn left or right and several other things right up to performing tricks like a ‘3D flip’. I learnt to fly the drone around our lounge before finding a dry still day to fly it outside. I found the button to get the drone to return to me and the one to land it, very useful. The drone can be flown in normal mode (imagine sitting on the head of the drone) or Headless mode (in relationship to the handset), which can challenge the brain cells.
To used my phone with the drone to see what the onboard camera sees, I needed to download the Simrex App, from the Play Store,which on my Android device is called “Simrex Zoomy” and connect my phone to the WiFi signal emitted by the drone in my case this is “SIMREX-X300-751170”, I guess the last 6-digits might be different on different X300 drones.
The instructions also state that “This product is suitable for INDOOR flight only”. When I read this, I thought that I would not be able to succeed in my mission, so I contacted the Simrex for clarification. The outside reference is because there can be weather outside: the drone is not waterproof but has electrical and electronic parts and it is so small and light that any gust of wind would blow the drone around and it would take significant skill to keep it under control. So, I concluded, as a novice, that it would be ok for me to fly the drone outside on a fine still day, which is what I did, successfully.
My 2 main takeaways from this experience are that this would be an excellent toy to develop a child’s hand eye coordination and spatial reasoning. Then quite apart from being fun to ‘play’ with it can be mighty useful for more practical jobs.

This is definitely an entry level drone. It is well made and relatively easy to navigate. I would not recommend this for kids. I think it’s too small and a little delicate. The video quality is what you would expect at this price point. The battery lasts about 20 minutes so, I recommend having a battery pack with you. Overall, I think it’s worth the price you pay.
