Other reviewers said that its not 16x, so the first thing I did was compare it to a single eye of a Celestron 8×42 binocular. I would have to agree that to the human eye it seems less powerful. I believe the product documentation only says it is 10x. Not sure about that either, I would say that it “feels” like the image is overall a little smaller, a little darker, and a little narrower FOV than the 8×42 when I do a quick side-by-side with my eye and the Celestron as a mono. Perhaps if you put a camera on it you could get slightly more zoomed in images vs the binocs, but to my eye, its looks not quite as good. but still okay.
The other issue I have is that if you try to look around with your eye, you end up looking into the “black circle” all the time, and you have to get used to holding it just right to align the lenses. There is no way to scan with your pupil from far left to far right without entering the blackness or subtly repositioning the scope. I believe this is causes by smaller lenses or a shorter light path or something. Idk. but im sure it does not happen in more expensive scopes. It does not happen on the reference Celestron optics.
I used a coupon and paid like $30 for this so you could literally by 4 of them, tape them together into 2 new sets of binoculars for the price of the Celestron set, which itself is not an expensive set of optics.
there are two adjustment rings. One slightly zooms the image, and the other can be used to find a focus for a given zoom. But not all “zoom ring” positions can be focused. So you can get into a situation where turning only one ring can never focus the image. Frustratingly, this happens at the “most zoomed in” position, and you have to back off the zoom by like, 10% to get a focused image. Its pretty annoying. Also, since the entire tube basically consists of 4 concentric co-rotating cylinders it can be kind of difficult to get the movement you want. You have to come up with a system of which rings to hold and which way to twist. There are multiple possible combinations. Honestly this might be a plus if you were going for the “17th century sailor” kind of vibe.
That said if you just want to quickly scope something out thats not moving very fast, or bolt this onto a smart phone, or maybe give it to a child, its pretty okay for the price

It’s Not the clearest optics I’ve seen but for $40 it is pretty good. The small size is great for taking anywhere. I put it in the door pocket in my vehicle. Great for checking things out whenever you see something you’d like to have a better look at.

I originally bought this for my dad as he loves gadgets I ended up with this great scope.. Dad would have loved it very much I use for hummingbird sanctuaries when I can visit. However, it is a decent single scope for viewing events in our skies. And lightweight easy to use, I just don’t use for a lot —- but I will vouch for quality, customer service, and the scope itself. Enjoy- great product by a company who stands behind their products. And great price.

Let’s be clear, this isn’t going to get you National Geographic quality close-ups of the birds native to your backyard. But this morning it let me see a monarch butterfly perched on the railing of my deck 10 ft away with a clarity I couldn’t hope with my naked eye and inability to get closer without scaring it.
But let’s talk about the moon. I think my love affair with the moon is rekindled. I’ve been nearsighted badly since 4th grade (I’m 50) and even with corrected vision I just never have been able to get any clear view of the moon even on the clearest night. This doesn’t purport itself to be a telescope at all. But last night the moon was almost full, and only a few wispy clouds in the night sky. I used the two lens settings to adjust it enough to clearly see the gray areas of our satellite. It was an emotional thing. Wow. I can’t wait until the sun sets tonight so I can give it another go. I’m ultimately going to buy a telescope after realizing anew what can be seen in the night sky. But I will hold on to this monocular for spying on all of the creatures in the woods behind our house. Thank you so much for this little, affordable gem.

Needed something cheap for spotting while working. Wouldn’t use this for hunting as I’m certain it wouldn’t hold up to weather. But it’s fantastic for car spotting. I’ve even used it to check out a bumper sticker on the freeway because of how easy it is to use with one hand. Bang for buck is spot on.

It’s a good deal for the price of $19.99. The night vision could be a bit clearer, it does work. It comes with a case which is nice to keep the lenses clean and free of scratches. Good addition to keep in your pack.

My husband loves his monocular telescope. He can sit in the house and look at birds in the trees. He always has loved nature and feeding the birds. This was the perfect gift for him since he is disabled and home alone while I go to work. He is LOVING his gift.

Used for bird watching on recent trip to Costa Rica. Easy to pack, lightweight & easy to focus. Did NOT fog up in the rainforests. Years ago I had the lenses in my eyes replaced, right set for distance & left set for reading. My brain adapted for everyday activities except when I tried to use my binoculars where focusing was problematic. With the monocular held up to my distance eye lens focusing was super easy. At home, I’m continuing to enjoy a close up view of my backyard bird feeders year round. My monocular telescope will be accompanying me hiking this fall in the Pocono Mtns.

The monocular itself is solid and really good quality, but all of the accessories kind of suck. The iPhone attachment is way too small for the eyepiece to fit in so it doesn’t work at all. And the tripod is flimsy and is about half the height advertised in the listing.
