Initially just to easily control the volume levels of windows , web browser , conferencing software (WebEx, teams, zoom , etc) with respect to each other. Does that superbly. The widgets for the buttons let you display/monitor things like cpu and gpu fan speeds and temps , or mute the mic.
Add controlling free OBS and now you can teleconference and have a “lower third” that displays , or a “be right back” screen when you step away.
For souping up your teleconferencing presence this is ideal. For streamers who want lots of macros for sounds and effects so need lots of buttons (swiping on the display bar let’s you switch pages but that’s extra motions) this may not be for you. But for the rest of us this is great so far.
I’ll be seeing if I can open up the base to stick some lead in to make the unit a bit heavier to lessen the likelihood of it sliding when I press a button.

Vorweg / Fazit: Das Stream Deck + (Plus) ist das beste Elgato Produkt, das ich in den letzten Monaten in Händen hielt (ich habe: Key Light, Ring Light, MKI, Pedal, Facecam). Endlich ein Stream Deck (Abkürzung: SD) mit Drehreglern. Insbesondere in der Videobearbeitung oder DAW eine super Angelegenheit. Praktischer Use Case…man kann auf den Timelines drehend navigieren und den gleichen Knopf bspw. für Cuts, Marker setzen, etc. verwenden. Oder für Colourgrading, etc. Das ist echt super.
Bei einem Produkt wie dem SD sollte man die Rezession in Software und Hardware differenziert betrachten.
Die Hardware: Das Deck ist auf dem Schreibtisch schon eine imposante Erscheinung und ist in der Realität größer als man es von den Bildern her erahnen mag. Die Buttons sind deutlich größer als beim MK 1/2,… Die Drehknöpfe haben einen guten Druckpunkt und die Drehregler drehen einwandfrei mit Einrastmarkern. Man bekommt also ein haptisches Feedback beim Drehen des Knopfes. Wenn man berücksichtigt, dass man das Touchpanel / den Druckknopf auch noch mit Funktionen belegen kann hat man unter dem SD+ 12 Druckknöpfe. Da kann man schon einiges mit anfangen.
Das Touchpanel funktioniert reibungslos. Hier gilt zu beachten, dass man mit Swipe links / rechts die weiteren „Seiten“ des Profils aufrufen kann. Man muss also nicht wie bspw. bei dem MK1 einen Knopf mit Schalter links / rechts belegen. Das Touchpanel hat bei Druck auf den Abschnitt die gleiche Funktion wie Klick auf den Button. Hier wäre es wünschenswert, wenn zwei verschiedene Knöpfe nicht standardmäßig mit der gleichen Funktion belegt werden würde. Schade ist, dass man den Winkel des Panels nicht mehr verändern kann. Das mitgelieferte USB-C Kabel ist abnehmbar und kann durch ein längeres Kabel ersetzt werden. Ich habe das SD an einem Anker 60W 7-Port USB 3.0 Datenhub hängen und es funktioniert reibungslos.
Die Software: Mein größter Kritikpunkt an der Software. Man kann Profile anlegen, die einer *exe zugeordnet sind. Spricht: wenn man eine bestimmte *.exe / ein bestimmtes Programm öffnet wird das entsprechende Profil angezogen. Das funktioniert nicht mehr – hat aber mal funktioniert. Egal ob SD MK1, Pedal oder dem SD+. Super ist, dass man über die Software Plugins runterladen und installieren kann. So gibt es Plugins für Wavelink, Cubase, Control Center (für die Lichter), Elgato Facecam, OBS Studio, Twitch, Spotify, Youtube, Phillips Hue, usw.
Warum sind die Elgato Produkte eigentlich so toll? Die Integration des Stream Decks mit anderen Elgato Produkten ist ziemlich gut: – Ring Light, Key Light – einfach zu steuern und zu justieren per Drehregler – genial. Wehrmutstropfen: ich würde gerne beide Lichter gleichzeitig (!) anpassen können – Facecam. Super zu steuern. Ich würde mir ein Plugin für M365 Office Apps wünschen, mit dem man Drehreglerfunktionen ausführen kann. Bspw. Zoom oder Bildlauf. Allerdings: wenn man diese Integration weiterer Elgato Hardware nicht braucht weil man keine anderen Elgato Produkte hat und auch nicht plant zu beschaffen kann man durchaus zu Wettbewerbern greifen, die günstiger sind und einen vergleichbaren Funktionsumfang liefern (s. u.).
Über den Preis von Elgato Produkten kann man sich sicherlich trefflich streiten. Wenn man bedenkt, dass man (Stand 02.12.22) für das MK.2 140 € bezahlt und für das XL 230 € finde ich persönlich nicht, dass das SD + mit 230 € überteuert ist. Im Gegenteil: für die Drehregler und das Touchpanel und das Mehr an Möglichkeiten bezahle ich das gerne. Wenn man den Preis qualifiziert vergleichen will müsste man gegen andere Produkte mit Drehreglern vergleichen. Hier sehe ich bspw. das Contour Shuttle Pro v2. Das Shuttle Pro v2 betreibe ich ebenfalls – nur ist es jetzt vom privaten Schreibtisch geflogen und wandert mit in mein dienstliches Studio. Das Gerät kostet am 02.12.22 hier 82,00 € (!) – also eine Preisdifferenz von 140,00 € und das ist dann schon ein mächtiger Unterschied.

As a veteran stream deck user this was an upgrade I welcomed. Having touch screen to swipe through page/button layouts is amazing. I have a page for specific usage and can just swipe left or right to get on the correct page easily when needed. Examples of pages/usage: Zoom Meetings Button Editing on Premier pro buttons/shortcuts Standard work flow page (copy and paste actions along with alt+Tab, etc) Favorite Games/Apps Launch Page
And more! This tool does require some setting up time but once you have started you’ll add/remove buttons, add dial stacks to change what one dial is controlling, and optimize to your own liking. Ultimately saving tons of time by just investing that one bit of time to setup.

I got it for more than a week now. The buttons are a bit larger than what I need but it’s very good coz their screen can fit a lot. The screen is VERY responsive. Fells like a fast phone screen so you can chnage pages less than quater of a sec which is very useful. The dials are awesome and you can change the steps 1 2 3 4 or 5% Soo good.

I wanted this device to help me with Video editing (Final Cut), streaming (ECAMM Live) and managing meetings on Zoom. I already run a Stream Deck XL and several other Elgato pieces of kit, which means I’m used to optimistically early releases of products that don’t live up to marketing hype and support that takes a couple of days between responses.
I got a decent level of functionality with the Video editing – the dials are pretty good at that, but for anything else there isn’t much available as far as plug ins are concerned.
Today there are a series of error signs showing on every button and I don’t have the heart to go to Legato support to restore limited functionality. I’m going to try a LoupeDeck and will review that in a few days.

The Elgato Stream Deck+ is a good concept, but there are very few features that you can’t do on a normal stream deck. The difference is that the Stream Deck+ has the screen and knobs. In theory, this would allow for tons of customization, but currently the only thing you can bind to the knobs are hotkeys and volume control (There are like 10 dial options but 8 of them are just copies of the normal button plugin options). And hotkeys heavily rely on keyboard shortcuts. And volume control can already be done on other stream decks with Elgato’s own plugin so it isn’t very meaningful. Until Elgato, adds more plugins that supports applications natively, I would not buy the Stream Deck+ and wait until Elgato updates with more features.
Although having Wave Link is very nice, but you don’t get access to high pass filter or clipguard for your microphone if its not an elgato mic or xlr. You can only control output level and use vsts, and you don’t get a seperate mic source in Windows.

As all Elgato product’s, this stream deck + is great BUT. The fact that this was released with new software that does NOT allow the dials to control OBS audio sources makes this a pretty paperweight. Buttons are just a larger version of the standard stream deck ones. The dials are stackable which is nice, the screen is clear and touchable as well. Again, you can not control OBS audio with this and wont be able to unless if or when a 3rd party releases a plugin for it. Extremely disappointed in Elgato.
If OBS audio control is important to you, this is NOT the elgato product you need. It will control wave link and some standard windows audio if thats all your looking for.
Again….so disappointed in the SD+

I bought the stream deck + knowing that it would be a great buy, but was still suprised by the quality and functionality of this thing. You have endless possibilities with hotkeys, profiles, and pages available to you. From work, personal use, video games, spotify, sim racing…… I have a page for everything! This truely is one of the most versatile and useful gadgets I have purchased in a long while. It is very much worth the cost.

I use Logic Pro X and needed a way to control separate faders within that program. This deck would be the perfect companion, except Logic doesn’t have the capability to control individual channel faders. So this isn’t so much Elgato’s problem, but rather Apple’s.
It’s easy to set up and deploy, as long as you know what hot keys you need to use to accomplish whatever it is you are wanting to do.

this is a stream deck. it works like any other stream decks, for better or worse. it functions as advertised.
i see other people complaining about how it works and i have to chalk it up to: they don’t know what they are doing, or they are expecting too much too early. i know the dial functions are a little limited rn, but in a few months there will be more features than you know what to do with. i am confident that elgato will add much more functionality in the coming weeks and months. just be patient if you get it or hold off for now untill there is more 3rd party support.
my issues with the device are that there are limited mounting options (i VHB’d mine to tablet stand), the usual mushy buttons (mushier than usual, actually), and a few early days bugs. other than that, this is a worthy upgrade my setup. i’ve been using a SD mk2 for a year or so and when i saw this drop, i had to get me some knobs!

Very specific product and Mid-December 2022 this can only be advised for Elgato product users, as out of the box, support is only for Elgato audio & lights software with limited 3rd party offer. I was hoping for this device to replace Loupedeck for my productivity tasks, such as photo&video editing, however, at the time of writing, the product is pretty much barebones and is in product developer’s hopes some 3rd party coders make plugins for it. I feel Elgato massively mis-marketed this item showing screenshots of it’s capabilities on their product page, like full DaVinci and Adobe Photoshop support, which is nowhere to be found in the plugin menu.
I watched a couple of videos online (not many available yet, which makes me wonder why?) and it seems that the device will heavily rely on 3rd party plugins developed by creators who will likely charge extra money for them as some can be already found (due December).
If there’s support for photo & video editing apps right out of the box, then sorry Elgato, you have to make it clearer how to enable and use them as all the online material linked through Stream Deck + application to product pages circles around showing “possibilities” that are clearly not there yet.
Can’t rate this product any higher, this is another product which might get better over time, but from the launch, is unusable and sells due to the reputation of their previous items rather than the functionality and awesomeness of a particular item.
