I can’t tell you how many cheap, wireless mice I’ve gone through over the years, but they’ve always fallen prey to issues: misclicking, insensitive sensor, broken parts, and the like. These problems tend to develop within one-two years. While I’ve only had this Amazon Basics mouse for 5 months, I have several reasons to believe it will last longer than the average competition. I use it daily to control my laptop (which functions as my TV).
== Why the confidence? ==
Firstly, what sets it apart from its Microsoft, Logitech, and random Chinese counterparts is that it simply doesn’t feel AS cheap. While it isn’t miles ahead, it doesn’t feel like it would explode if I dropped it on my kitchen floor. I had a Chinese mouse that my father dropped on carpet, of all things, and it darn near snapped in two, indicating the casing was poorly assembled. Most other mice tend to feel either too light (cheaper plastics) or have slight motion in the parts, indicating poor engineering and a resulting “floatiness” of feel. For example, the scroll wheel can feel loose on lemon mice. My last Microsoft Mouse that died unceremoniously had a switch that, after a year, snapped off. Let me assure you, I treat my electronics gingerly, and I do not resemble the hulk. Frankly, I always felt the switch was too pronounced — more poor engineering. The Amazon Basics, in contrast, has a tightly bound switch that doesn’t stick out, yet it remains easy to switch on and off.
Secondly, I haven’t had an AmazonBasics product that has abjectly failed. I’m currently using 4 of their HDMI cables, countless batteries (AA and AAA), and probably a bunch more products that I’ve forgotten are of the Basics line-up. Their batteries are of particularly good quality for the price, as countless well-researched reviews will show.
== Sensor Range ==
This is the icing. I use it roughly 10 feet away from my laptop with a chair in the way, and there’s no stuttering or shakiness and no interference. It has performed better than almost every cheap wireless I’ve used in the past, and that’s good enough for my endorsement.
== Potential Issues ==
The lone issue this mouse has is that it’s VERY basic, meaning it doesn’t have any additional side-buttons. You get left button, right button, and a scroll wheel. If you absolutely require the functionality of additional side-buttons, this is not the mouse for you. I literally need to point and click, so it’s perfectly adequate for my everyday use.
== Conclusion ==
If I needed another cheap, wireless mouse in the near-term, I’d probably choose this (barring a wicked sale on something else). Its simplicity is elevated by its above-average construction and quality of sensor.
Update 11/08/2020: Been using this mouse off and on for 2+ years. Still performing like the day I bought it, which is more than I can say for cheapies I’ve had in the past.

This mouse has so much going for it…. This Amazon product has been a joy to use.
PRO: 1 It just glides with such hand comfort.
2 The center scroll knob sits up high so easy to control the speed.
3 Battery life is great, Amazon also included the batteries, (most vendors don’t).
4 Has an easy to switch on/off button.
5 Price was very reasonable.
CON: NONE ……
Very Pleased with the purchase and would purchase again. Thanks Amazon, for a well thought out design.

This is exactly what I needed at a great price!

This is perfect. My previous mouse just died on me last night so I needed a replacement double quick. I obviously had loads to choose from along with all the various prices and finally thought this one sounded as if it offered the best value. Price came into it, but it has everything I need. Arrived today and I have now been using it for about 5 hours, it’s perfect. My one little gripe is that the battery section makes it difficult to see the way the batteries go in. Initially I thought they both went the same way and of course the mouse wouldn’t work, but when I changed one around it worked perfectly. Certainly recommend this to everyone, you don’t need to go for expensive one.

Item came with dead batteries! Had to buy new batteries to make it work.

I bought two of these and both died together.
These are the worst mice I’ve owned. Most will last a lot longer. They may cost less but they aren’t worth it.

I only brought this to get my new Mac mini running. Once I had installed all of my data I discovered my MacBook Air and the mini could share screens, making this mouse kind of superfluous…until I brought an Alienware laptop, which I’m going to use mainly for gaming, and the mouse feels so much better than using the track pad for games.
The “installation” is almost nonexistent. The Mac Mini, instantly recognised the USB was connected to a mouse. The PC laptop took a bit longer, but within a minute it figured out what the USB was for, and I was able to use it straight away.
Worth the money and I will definitely keep it to hand for any other tech issues that pop up.
Amazon Customer –
This mouse is a good buy for the money – very light weight and functions well. I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks, so we’ll see if it stands the test of time.

I get through mice and more so keyboards quite quickly. I’ve used a different brand mouse for a while but quality has gone down whilst price has gone up. Saw this on Deal of the Day and looks identical – apart from price!
Initial impressions are good. One point that makes it stand iut are the “feet” that slide over desktop. They are much larger on this mouse which makes for a more stable operation. You do get a bit more to clean though but dust and muck just come of quickly using usual baby wipes.
Time will tell quality and performance wise but so far looking good.
Update 24/04/2016: Just replaced the original Amazon Basics batteries that came with mouse. This seems to be quite short life, have put in another brand, we’ll see how long they last.
Update 19/07/2016 Replaced batteries again. Very high battery consumption, replacing every 3 months. Time I think to look for an alternative. Star Rating reduced to account for this.
Update 5-9-2016 Batteries lasted less than 2 months.Getting more expensive to run than any other mouse I’ve owned. Reverted to old plug in mouse for time being.

Awesome. This mouse worked as it was supposed to work.

For you who are looking for a nice simple wireless mouse for your Reolink NVR, this one will work with no issues. Plugged it in, and never had a problem. It is a cheap mouse, but it does feel good in the hand.

A great mouse used with day to day computer work. Would buy it again if the need arises.

Swift delivery and a small price. I like the compact size of this and the matt finish which does not show fingermarks and is easily wiped clean. This worked with my chromebook the moment I plugged in the usb. Smooth scrolling but the best thing about this is the on/off button, thus saving battery life. I did notice in feedback someone mentioned it’s heavy on battery consumption but my view is, utilise the on/off button, use good batteries and the price of batteries is a small price to pay for an amazing little mouse
To be honest I cannot fault it. Would I buy it again? Certainly. Would I recommend it? Absolutely.
