I have found that mid tier and budget cell phones don’t have durable charger ports (fail from 12 months to 36 months) so I recommend the Asurion 3 year portable electronics protection plan for $24 (covers only purchase price up to $150). I also recommend using a credit card with extended warranty (but you have to check for that as about half of my credit cards have dropped the extended warranty, mostly MC cards).
If you get an Android 5G phone with 8 Gig of RAM and Android 12 (or greater) it should be able to run any apps you need for four or five years. If the charger port fails, you will likely need to visit a local repair shop and get a written estimate saying it is not repairable (true for mid to low priced Android phones) and will likely get your purchase price back (not including tax or protection plan cost), but you get a few years of service for the cost of tax and the protection plan, perhaps $50.

After demanding a Supervisor and waiting a long, long time this became a 5 Star experience.
But before that? With regular customer service? Things became a protracted nightmare when the agent lied about something meant to fix a UPS problem, and It became a protracted mess, as product availability was dependent on timing.
I also learned the $21.99 warranty I had originally paid on the item? Was now going to cost about $78.99 to buy (the lesser quality and priced) replacement item (now (119. vs the 150 I had paid earlier) “What the hell kind of price increase is this? I asked of the Asurion Agent. “It now costs almost 2/3 the price of the ice machine for a three year extended warranty, and about 1/2 price for a two year extended warranty. First: they are not calling them extended warranties any more, they have a new name for the same thing.
Second: She claimed it was not a price increase at all, but that it’s simply correcting an error that Amazon has had the wrong price file loaded for decades. This is simply a correction and we are lucky that they are honoring them at all. I hope Amazon offers other insurers, or is not participating in the profit now. I don’t know if this trend of almost tripling prices is happening elsewhere, but it’s giving me one more reason to buy everything at Costco.

Asurion warranty is legitimate! I purchased a Boblov body camera and the 3 year Asurion warranty. At about 2 years in to use, the Boblov camera had issues. I filed a claim and it was a n BS process. Very pleased with how Asurion handled my claim.

Purchased this on an electronics item and after 18 months the unit died, I contacted Asurion on the online portal to file a warranty claim and it said my item was still under manufacturer warranty and to call them. The item only had a 12 month manufacturer warranty so I had to search for a phone number to call Asurion. When I finally got through to a human they did file the claim for me online and sent the prepaid label to send back the broken item. The process initially was a hassle but once I reached a human they did help me and I sent the item back with their prepaid label and received my Amazon gift card as settlement via email a few days after shipping the item. Will buy again, very happy overall.
