I bought it for using my work laptop since it has to be wired. It is functional and just the right size.

OK: $10 isn’t a ton of money, but it ought to be enough to get a basic wired, 3-button USB mouse that’s at least somewhat durable and somewhat comfortable.
This one at least seems fairly durable (as opposed to all those cheapo no-name mice for a buck or two at Fry’s (RIP), the dollar store, etc…) but it’s not quite as comfortable as I’d hoped. When I bought this, I did so because it seemed as close as I could find to the old HP mouse that I like best (and am still using RIGHT NOW despite its severely advanced age and somewhat unhygienic appearance) which says it is a model “TPC-P100M.” I tried to find THAT one on Amazon, but couldn’t, so this one: the HP X500, seemed closest. So, I bought the X500 instead.
They ARE very similar, but the old one is slightly slimmer, and I think there’s also a very subtle difference in the shape of the curve of the top of the mouse. You wouldn’t think such tiny differences would matter, but my right palm would respectfully disagree with you: the old one is NOTICEABLY more comfortable, at least to me. Not that the X500 is uncomfortable: it’s not. It’s just very generic in ergonomics/feel, whereas the old TPC-P100M is somehow quite a bit more comfortable to use for hours on end.
So, the X500 is OK: perfectly fine if you want a basic, brand-name wired mouse and aren’t the Pope or a sultan or something. However, if you ARE the Pope, or a sultan, or if you just use your computer a LOT and are maybe a BIT picky, and you want to be as comfortable as possible, do yourself a favor and try and find a TPC-P100M instead.
That’s what I’m still doing.

Works well and has good price. Would be fine for me, but a little small for my grown son. He needed a quick replacement for work and although the measurements seemed the same, this one is smaller/ less bulky. It also is a little louder.

Seemed too large for my hand so I sent it back.

Had to replace a wireless mouse. They are still a bit flaky. Wired may be old school, but it is better.
