8 reviews for Samsung Galaxy A50 Verizon, 64GB Black (Renewed)

It’s been almost 2 months since I’ve had this A50 and its definitely worth the $, only way at first I could tell was reconditioned was by the sim card tray. It does some weird stuff sometimes not sure if it’s just the phone or that it was used but nothing that makes me want to throw it at the seller, I went with this seller cause the other a50’s I was looking at didn’t have great reviews and most said had lots of issues. Was also the first phone I actually put a case on and I wish I had added some type of protection to the back of the phone before I did cause being in the case has left small scratches all over the back from being in the case. I haven’t really figured out the camera yet with taking close up pictures taking further a way shots are very crisp and look great.

Absolutely fantastic phone, as nice of condition as new. Works flawlessly and enjoying the long battery life. You have surpassed my expectations as to a seller that provides exactly, if not more, than what is described. You are bookmarked for my future purchases. Thank you so much.

I received the phone in the original box with the charger and a paper SIM card. all appeared as new, but I couldn’t hook up with Verizon. So I took it to the local Verizon store where a tech just swapped the old SIM card out of my Pixal 2 and it synced right up.
After transferring data and apps from my old Pixal 2 using the Samsung Smart Switch app, and getting used to the differences on the Samsung, I think I will grow to like this phone. The battery lasts maybe half a day longer than my old phone, averaging about 2.5 days, but I don’t use it very heavily — maybe 4 or 5 short to medium calls per day, emails twice a day and an occasional You Tube video to help me fix something.

The phone I received looked great and seemed to function fine. However, when I tried to activate it on my account I was told by Verizon that it is on their blacklist (probably because the original account holder defaulted on their account). They also told me thay there is nothing I can do to resolve this issue, which means the phone is useless to me.
One detail that was explained to me by the Verizon person is that when an account goes into default ALL the phones that were ever associated with that account (whether they are paid off or not) are put on the blacklist. The one exception to this is if the phones owner traded it into Verizon before they defaulted. So basically, any previously owned Verizon phone that you buy from anyone but Verizon can get locked on you at any time. Even if you were able to activate it successfully.
Im willing to risk that unlikely scenario, but I figure maybe others aren’t so I wanted to share.
I am going to return this phone in exchange for another one and hope for better luck this time.

This came looking so good it would be hard to guess that it was refurbished!

Item came as described in good condition. I’ve previously purchased two A50 refurbs through Amazon that are working great. This newest purchase came with an obvious bad battery. I compared my current A50 and let both phones idle for 10 minutes with their screens on. My old phone was still at 99% battery. The new phone had already dropped to 96% in that short time frame. I’m going to return and try again in hopes of getting a better battery like my first two purchases.

  8. William Thompson

Pros: The phone is intuitive, talkative (it wants to tell you everything verbally), solid, and quick.

Cons: Can’t really say as I ordered this for a friend. So, I don’t really use it.

So why 3 stars? Mainly because of the seller.
    1. There is no list of box contents in the listing. Therefore, I assumed that it would come with all standard features, including ear buds. There were none.
    2. The packaging is hokey to say the least! The phone was placed FACE DOWN on top of the charger with nothing to protect it. (See pictures.) It is a credit to the Samsung construction that the glass was not full of scratches, cracked or broken when it arrived. And there was no packaging to prevent the articles from bouncing around. This is not only lazy, it is irresponsible!
    3. On their listing they say you should check out Verizon unlocking policy. This policy only works if you have a Verizon sim installed. After a fixed period of time you can unlock for free using a standard, free process. But if you don’t have Verizon in your area, too bad for you. Their policy is that they do not unlock phones sold through third parties. Here is what their tech support said: “Please note that for safety and security purposes, we are not able to assist with unlocking services if the device was purchased from a third party. For additional assistance, please contact the vendor from which the phone was purchased. ” – Lorenzo

I did contact the seller. Still waiting for a reply. That being said, I put a sim from Altice into the phone, and it worked fine. So, not sure if this was truly locked. Your mileage may differ.

    4. Adding insult to injury, we paid $248 for this. By the time it arrived at our door the price had dropped with the same seller to $231.99! Frankly, if it were up to me (and it wasn’t) even at that price, I would still avoid this seller. Do yourself a favour, forget this refurbished rubbish and buy a brand new one for $269 (also on Amazon).

As for the seller, this was NOT my choice and I would have never chosen a seller with such a low rating. It was my friend’s choice and I respected it.

So, in review: Phone good. Seller not so good.
