If you desire to capture breathtaking aerial moments without shelling out a fortune, the TOMZON P5G Drone with Camera is a compelling choice. Straight out of the package, the TOMZON P5G impresses with its robust craftsmanship and premium materials. The inclusion of a carrying bag adds convenience, ensuring easy portability. The addition of propeller guards provides an extra layer of protection, while the inclusion of spare propellers ensures uninterrupted flights in the face of any mishap. For novices, the one-button take-off and landing feature is a game-changer. It simplifies the flying process and safeguards against common mishaps during these pivotal moments. Moreover, the drone’s astounding range of up to 985 feet and its rapid auto-return system instill a sense of “fool-proof” reliability. Equipped with a 4K camera and the “FlyCam” app, this drone unlocks a range of functions such as follow-me mode, customizable flight paths, and GPS auto return. The real-time video transmission to your mobile device provides a thrilling first-person perspective that heightens your flight experience.

On the other hand, while the camera captures impressive 4K video, some users have noted slight vibrations in the footage, especially in gusty conditions. This issue may impact the overall fluidity of your recordings. Operating the TOMZON P5G may pose a challenge for complete beginners, as it entails acquainting oneself with the controls and app. As such, this drone may not be suitable for children or those seeking an instant “plug-and-play” experience.

Although the flight time is reasonable at approximately 30 minutes per battery, the need to return every 15 minutes to swap batteries may mildly inconvenience users engaged in extended filming sessions. Furthermore, despite offering three speed modes, the fastest one may not satiate those yearning for a truly high-speed flight encounter.

Thus, the TOMZON P5G Drone with Camera provides an affordable gateway to immersive aerial adventures. Its 4K camera and FPV capabilities enable you to capture awe-inspiring footage and relish an unmatched perspective from the skies. While it entails a slight learning curve, mastering the art of flying the TOMZON P5G rewards you with a seamless and gratifying experience. Though rivalled by other budget-friendly models like the DJI Mavic Mini SE, the TOMZON P5G holds its own with its lightweight design, impressive range, and beginner-friendly attributes. If you seek to explore the enthralling realm of aerial photography and videography without straining your budget, the TOMZON P5G Drone with Camera is your ticket to a memorable flight high above the horizon. Soar with delight as you take in the world from an entirely new perspective. Happy flying!

Wow! What an amazing, exciting, fun, High Quality, Upgraded, Multi-Option & Personalized Flying Drone! It has so many great options to choose from with or without WiFi. It has an App to record with, use a GPS with, and so much more! It took me a bit to learn how to operate it because I’ve never flown a Drone like this before but it comes with an amazing manual with clear diagrams and instructions, even directions through the accompanied App to play with. It is made durable, so that was awesome to find it in one piece still after we crashed it a couple of times first. It has crash guards you can put on it, which is a good idea, and it also has extra blades and accessories in case you break or loose one etc. That was also awesome because I did loose one of the covers for the blade when we crashed it, but having more was extremely handy and I was thankful to have them. I absolutely love that it also has a backpack to store it in which is an excellent weatherproof case to help protect it for years and adventures to come. I still have so much to learn about all of the options I can use with it and I look forward to every bit of it. It’s my favorite Flying Toy and as you can see in my video – I think I am learning well and doing great as a Flying Drone beginner. Everyone wants to play and watch when you bring out this amazing, exciting Drone. It’s excellent to fly during the day and night, especially during the sunset to really see & enjoy the flashing Drone lights. It would be a phenomenal gift for someone to cherish and share memories with for years to come too. I cherish & love mine. Xo

I have a significant collection of RC vehicles including cars, trucks, boats, army tanks, construction machines, helicopters, and a few small drones. I’m not a professional drone user and have only flown ones that are very small and basically for kids. This is the most advanced and expensive drone I have. The drone comes in a nice carrying bag with the drone well protected. All the pieces are in specific cutouts in a block of foam that fits neatly in the bag. It is a little difficult to get the drone out because of the real tight fit in the foam. I wanted to try this out and am used to a “quick start” guide but this is way more complicated and there is no quick start. The drone requires an app that has to be downloaded to a smart phone. After you get that up a going there are several calibration steps to be followed before the drone is even ready to fly. This is way more complicated than the other drones I have, but I am looking forward to the learning experience. The drone comes with two battery packs, a USB charging cable, some extra propellers, and the remote controller. The remote requires 3 AAA batteries (Not included). It also does not come with an actual charger. You have to charge the batteries with a USB charging device like a cell phone charger.

    – First thing you need to know is that this is a rebrand of the Potensic P5G drone. In fact, after registering for the Fly Cam app, I actually received an email from Potensic. So Tomzon and Potensic basically mean the same thing.

    – Let’s go over some of the things I like about this drone package: The whole package comes in a nice bag that holds everything together: the drone, remote controller, 2 batteries, extra propellers and propeller guards (which I recommend to put on if you are a first timer). The bag looks nice on the outside too.

    – The 2nd thing I like about this camera is the weight: It’s only 238 grams with battery! That means you can fly this thing in Canada without the need to Register your drone and you don’t need to get a drone pilot certificate because it’s under 250 grams. It’s considered a microdrone as defined by Transport Canada. Of course you need to still keep other safety guidelines that apply to all drones such as avoiding advertised events, avoiding airports, ceiling limits, etc.

    – At your first flight, you need to calibrate the drone. Just watch some videos on Youtube about Potensic drones to see how it works. It’s fairly simple to do. Just turn the drone 2 full 360 degree turns, then point it down and turn it sideway another 2 turns. For some reason, I had trouble doing that as I turned the drone and it didn’t allow me to go to the next step. Took me around 10 minutes to complete the calibration when it should take like 10 seconds. Not sure what I did wrong because the problem didn’t occur again.

    – There are 2 fly modes, GPS and non GPS. I suggest flying with GPS mode as that is how you can access Return to Home and other functions. The drone needs to connect a minimum number of GPS satellites connected in order for it to work. And so in the app, it will show a message letting you know that you can’t fly yet and that’s because it doesn’t connect to enough satellites yet. Just wait a minute or 2 and it should be ready.

    – Flying is super fun. Easy to control. However, you cannot fly this drone in windy conditions at all. Very hard to control the drone in windy conditions. On a day I measure the wind speed at ground level to be about 11-12 km/hr which means it’s higher gust up and flying the drone up just a few meters higher (about 2 story high) and the wind drifts the drone further and further. I thought I almost lost the drone because Return to Home doesn’t work as it tries to fight with the wind to get back to the original location to land. And so this drone must fly in a very calm condition. I couldn’t find any info about wind resistant capability of this drone and so from my test, I think it’s minimal.

    – The camera is ok. I like that you can remotely control the camera’s angle by moving the right scroll wheel on the remote. This will move the camera’s position 90 degrees straight down. Footage from the memory card (micro sd type) looks good but the camera angle is very crooked and I don’t know if there is a way to adjust them. By crooked I mean the horizon is slanted very much. The camera does not Image Stabilization, but it has spring abosorbtion shocks between the camera housing and the drone body. But still it shakes during flights.

    – Overall this is a nicely put together package for beginner drone flying. But the drone that any drone trying to beat for the “under 250 gr” category would be the DJI Mavic mini series. And the drone that came to my mind is the Mini SE that sells for just a little bit more than this drone with better camera quality as well as wind resistance. The only problem is the MiniSE is slowly being discontinued here in Canada and it’s hard to find a Canadian retailer selling what’s left of their inventory. This is a nice drone to fly as a beginner for fun.

  5. Prime Customer Reviewer

It’s my opinion that this drone is reasonably priced. My only real gripe with it is that its battery recharges via micro-USB instead of the latest USB-C. The remote requires three AAA batteries which I had to source myself. The convertible carrying case can be worn as a messenger brief or a backpack. It is made of a lightweight and silky water-resistant fabric and houses the drone and its peripherals in a foam casing. The drone uses the FlyCam App which displays helpful information such as GPS and allows for tilting of the camera angle. The app doesn’t provide any storage whatsoever but the drone takes a TF card 4 GB to a max of 128 GB which I had to source myself. I find that I have to transfer footage from the TF card to my computer with each flight. Storage capacity runs out with the battery which is annoying, but not abnormal to my previous experience with drones. Operation of the drone is standard with one joystick to control height and the other for directional steering much like the controls found on a remote control car. Like all other drones I’ve tried, this drone is loud so it is noticeable when flying overhead. It is very powerful and spits up dirt from the ground when taking off. The video captured is crisp but the footage came out a bit blue when I tested it but it’s workable footage. Overall great drone, better than the other home drones I have tried and pretty sturdy too considering I crashed it a few times without the blade guards on. So far the drone has survived but my garage door is scuffed. Take the first flight in an open field and away from any structures.

This is a surprisingly good drone with lots of capability. I’ve used drones at a similar price that I didn’t like at all. This one is good.

-It’s got two batteries, which is nice because obviously it doubles your flying time.
-It keeps a good connection to your phone while you’re flying it, even when it feels like it’s getting kind of far away. (This is the kind of drone that you’re not supposed to fly further than you can keep a direct line of sight on it, but still, that can place it a lot further from you than you are used to being from your wifi base)
-It records video on an onboard chip! This is TREMENDOUS because it doesn’t rely on your data connection to your phone to record the video. Even if you have a not-all-that-great control signal, you will end up with much better video than you expect.

If you’re a beginner, this is a reasonably easy/responsive drone to learn on. If you already know what you’re doing, you’ll be just fine in moments. (If you’re a beginner trying to fly for the first time, DO NOT DO IT INDOORS. Experienced folks already know this. Learn from our mistakes!)

You won’t take award-winning cinematic video on this, but you can absolutely take perfectly good home video quality footage on it… kid’s sports game? Awesome! Backyard fun time? you betcha! Need to see if there’s something in your gutter but you don’t want to get out the ladder? This is your time! (I was surprised how often I came up with uses for the drone once I had it.)

Rather good drone for this price, lots of fun to play with and use.

  7. Bret

This is a really surprising drone! I was expecting it to be somewhat cheaply made, with buzzy engines, and a low quality camera. I was wrong on all counts! This thing is awesome!

First off, it’s from a brand I already trust. I’ve owned a few drones from TOMZON over the years, and they’ve always been surprisingly good, especially for the price. I have no idea, however, how they were able to get this many features into a drone in this price category. Everything they say it can do, it can do.

I was impressed with the range from the drone to my smartphone. I was really skeptical that they would be able to maintain a good video signal, especially as the drone got higher in the air. I was very nervous about it flying away without me being able to bring it back to Earth. But, it stayed connected, and continued to feed extremely high quality photos and video to the built-in SD card.

This is much more of a camera drone than a sport drone, so the fun with it is it’s stability, not necessarily that it’s a lot of fun to fly. The priority here is on stability and ease of use for the camera. For that, it’s really terrific. I needed to get a good view of the top of our house, for instance, after we had some storm damage. I was able to get up high to see not only how my house looked, but to also survey the neighbors as well. The images were crystal clear, and we’re not grainy or distorted at all. The video, likewise, had surprisingly decent frame rate, with reasonably good motion as well. The motion was not overly blurry, even when changing directions quickly.

There is still a lot I need to learn, as I’m coming more from the sport drone side. I enjoy flying these and maneuvering them, but this has helped me slow down, and focus on getting good images. I’m genuinely stunned by the features, build quality, and value of this drone. It would make an amazing Christmas gift!

Every day, it seems like some new company releases a drone, adding to the thousands already out there. The variety of drones can be pretty overwhelming, as well as the price, making it really hard to choose. I’ve owned my fair share of drones, so hopefully, I can shed some light on whether this one is worth your hard-earned dollars.

    QUALITY:
Most people judge a product by its look and feel, as well as how well it is built. Generally, that’s a fairly accurate way to determine how decent a product is going to be. However, this drone is one of those products that breaks that barrier.

When I first opened this drone and took it out, it felt cheap. The controller was nothing to write home about, and the drone itself just seemed like one crash would break it into a bunch of pieces. However, once I flew the drone, I quickly realized it was better than I originally thought.

    FEATURES:
This drone comes with pretty much the standard set of features that most drones offer: a high-resolution camera, GPS positioning, one-press return, and various recording options like follow and circle. The main difference at this price point is that these features actually seem to work. I’ve used drones that claim to have a one-touch return, but the drone comes back and lands 15 feet away from where it took off, which can get messy and dangerous. This one, on the other hand, was well within the 1-2 feet range.

    FLIGHT:
As I mentioned, my initial take on this drone was not the best, but it performed really quite well, and I was a bit surprised by it. It responds quickly to the controls and is fairly easy to fly. It did struggle slightly with hovering in place at higher altitudes, and wind definitely caused it to wander. However, once again, for this price point, I felt it did really well.

    APP:
Perhaps it was just me, but I had to try multiple times to get the drone to connect with the app. For some reason, it just didn’t want to, and I was close to giving up when I suddenly got it to connect. I’ve had no issues since, so I’m not sure what the problem was.

The app itself is pretty solid and easy enough to use. Using the app allows you to control the drone more effectively and unlocks a lot of the features.

    CAMERA:
This is where this drone performs really well, and perhaps they sacrificed on the body to have a better camera. I was very happy with the quality of pictures and videos the drone took, and for once, an entry-level drone claiming 4k may actually be 4k or close enough, anyway.

    CONCLUSION:
Overall, I found this drone to perform pretty well. It has all the features you would want, with a really clear camera that takes great photos. There were a few areas that could be improved, like the build quality of the drone and the instructions. But for someone looking to get into flying a drone without wanting to spend a fortune, this is a great place to start.

    WHAT I LIKED:
Performs well and easy to fly
    Nice camera with clear quality
Has a bunch of features that work well

    WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE
The quality of the drone itself felt cheap
    Instructions are a bit unclear
Had issues connecting to the drone with the app
Initial app settings drastically cut down the performance of the drone. So if you are experienced, you can definitely adjust those.
