Works good able to connect my laptop with an HDMI output to an old monitor that only has a VGA input. Tried out with 2 different laptops. On old Acer that is more than 10 years old and a newer Asus. Worked with both of them.

I bought a new Dell computer that had no VGA port to connect to my VGA monitor, only an HDMI port. So, I ordered the cable before I bought the computer. When I set everything up with my current monitor, it worked fine. Sept. 4: Well, it mostly works. I sometimes access a web page called Hoopla, which we access through our public library. It worked fine with the old VGA – VGA connection. But now, with HDMI — VGA, the main page comes up as it should, but if i try to play any of the listed videos, the monitor immediately goes black. Luckily, I don’t access Hoopla very often.

Bought this for my mother’s computer after her docking station died. This along with a USB hub completely replaced the docking station and gave her more room on her desk.
